Recipes Of Life is a way of telling stories through food for individuals or groups of people. It’s a powerful yet fun way of connecting to projects, personal and community issues.
The program can be used as simple talking therapy, or it can be combined with cooking therapy.

Recipes Of Life is a program that uses the metaphor of a recipe to structure and develop therapeutic conversations. It explores psychology and healing for people with folk knowledge that comes from our connections to culture, histories, family and the things we know or are familiar with. Then we can weave in the beauty of food preparation and recipe making alongside these conversations. It’s a therapy form that doesn’t feel much like therapy. The act of nourishing others through food brings about an experience of openness and giving that, in turn, feeds our bodies, minds and souls.

The Recipes that are Created can be Shared or Used to Contribute to
Recipe Of Life (ROL) Cookbooks, as a Community Fundraiser.

Natale initially devised the her first ROL program in 2001 as a way to connect with young people in juvenile detention. She found the act of cooking was a unique entry point into these adolescents’ stories and in turn, their line of thinking. Recipes Of Life has proved to be an incredibly successful and rewarding form of therapy, with skills developed in both communicating and caring for others through nourishment.
ROL is currently used in community programs within Australia and internationally.
