Here is our banana cake recipe


125 g butter
¾ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 egg
2 ripe bananas mashed
1½ cups self-raising flour
¼ cup cream or milk


Some really ripe bananas from grandma
We looked around your kitchen for the other ingredients- home grown?
I bought bananas at the shops and borrowed some bits from my house


Melt the butter, sugar and vanilla in a medium sized saucepan or microwave – Rhiannon did this with lots of stirring ( tip – use the microwave, so you don’t get burns)
Remove from heat or m.wave.
Stir a bit more till blended, nicely.
Rhiannon swapped to a wooden spoon.
Add mashed bananas and stir through until just blended.
Add egg and mix in well. Stir in flour, add cream/milk and mix lightly.
Fold in sliced bananas ( Natalie’s tip)
Bake at 180°C for approximately 40 minutes.( tip- We used a hotter oven as Grandma’s oven can go out)
