It’s been a tough few weeks for many friends out there, well the world probably, so it’s not surprising that the Five of Cups has appeared to let us acknowledge grief at the disappointing times. Don’t worry, it doesn’t end there though.

The Short message of the Five of Cups is that you are experiencing grief and loss. You have had a time of sadness and a series of disappointments, let’s say three. You might find these experiences consuming, and there is a reluctance that feels more like an inability to move away from the focus of grief emotionally. While you are focused on this one aspect of loss, you will not accept the situation and see the blessing in it and the opportunities that will come from it.

Grief and disappointment usually come with complicated friends. Such as anger, confusion, guilt, shame and regret. Although it’s hard to hear, you need to look for a lesson in these feelings. It will be helpful if you can broaden your focus, learn from it and then look around and see what is working or that other options are everywhere.

In Tarot, the cards that are numbered 5 are tricky. They are usually about a limited focus in some way and often on painful themes that you struggle to get your head around. There are excellent transformative capabilities when you can.

The astrological sign of the Five of Cups is Scorpio, and the element is Water. The planet is Pluto, which symbolises regeneration, transformation rebirth.
